Luella T. (Hein) Stein, 92, residing on Cedar Brook Lane, Sandusky, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 23, 2013, in Stein Hospice Care Center, following a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 6, 1921, in Oconomowoc, Wis., daughter of the late William and Theresa (Effel) Hein. Helen graduated from St. Mary Central Catholic High School in 1938.
Luella was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she was active in the Council of Catholic Women and served as a volunteer for Community Suppers.
She is survived two daughters, Mary Joanne (Donald) Gysan, of Sandusky, and Barbara J. (Joseph) Franklin, of Savannah, Ga.; a son, Robert P. Stein of Queens, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Luella was preceded in death by her husband, George J. Stein, on Jan. 17, 2004; and her sister, Sylvia Mantey.
Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where prayers will be recited at 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 26. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 428 Central Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Joseph Steinbauer will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
