Christine Casteel, 69, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 19, 2013, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 9, 1943, in Laurel, Miss., and lived in the Sandusky area for 69 years. She worked for Whirlpool Corp. in Clyde and was a member of Assembly of Jesus Christ Church of Sandusky. She sang with the church choir and the praise team and also served on the culinary committee.
Christine enjoyed serving God, helping others, and cooking.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice Casteel, of Fort Mill, S.C.; her son, Steven Casteel, of Sandusky; four sisters, Rosie Woods, of North Carolina, Janie (James) Payne, of Detroit, Lisa (Lee) Jones, of Alabama, and Pamela McKinney-Pentorn, of Kentucky; a brother, Robert (Donna) Casteel, of Sandusky; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Christine was preceded in death by her mother, Alberta (Matthews) Casteel; father, Elder James Casteel; and sisters, Alberta Clark and Joyce Casteel.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. Thursday, April 25, until services at 7 p.m. at Assembly of Jesus Christ Church, 3510 Beatty Ave., Sandusky. Pastor Johnny W. Cross Jr. will officiate.
Professional services are entrusted to Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, 2652 Broadway Ave., Lorain.
