Christola Shoemo, 81, of Sandusky, died Sunday, April 21, 2013, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, after battling cancer.
She was born April 5, 1932, in Jasper County, Miss.
She was an active and faithful member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church, serving as president of the Missionary Society, president of the Pastor’s Aide Committee, president of the Beautification Committee, vice-president of the Mothers’ Board, and a deaconette.
Christola is survived by her children, Rudy (Jeanette) Agee, Helen Jones, Bobby Collins, Pattie Agee, Erma Agee, Larry (Anita) Shoemo, Abigail Agee; sisters, Callie Keys and Belgie Ducksworth; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Agee; her second husband, Charles Shoemo; her parents, Liley and Mae Erma (Jones) Keys; sister, Myrtle Gammage; brother, Liley Keys Jr.; and brothers-in-law, Corby Keys, T.J. Gammage, and Billy Ducksworth.
Friends may call 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday, April 24, at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 224 Dixie Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will follow at noon, at the church, Rev. Scottie Aaron will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
