A memorial service for Donna J. Bowers, 89, of Newark, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Spring Hills Baptist Church, with Pastors Jerry Boylan and Jeff Smith officiating.
Donna passed away Friday, April 19, 2013, in Selma Markowitz Hospice Care Center. She was born April 18, 1924, on Kelleys Island, daughter of the late John and Marion (Roswurm) Ranft.
Donna graduated in 1945 from Providence School of Nursing in Sandusky with her RN degree. She retired from Licking Memorial Hospital in 1986 as head nurse on 5 North, where she was known and respected to run a “tight ship”. She was a member of Spring Hills Baptist Church, and a member of the SIS Bible Study Group, where she was a member of the same group of women for more than 20 years. Donna will be remembered with love and affection by her many friends, neighbors and co-workers.
She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca (Joe) Jarrells of Mentor, Ohio and Debbie (Jerry) Boylan of Tiffin; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Bowers, who passed away in 2002; her parents; and two brothers.
