Betty J. Myers, 90, of Collins, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
She was born Feb. 22, 1923, in Sandusky, daughter of the late Leon H. and Edna (Cullen) Matter and was a lifelong area resident.
Betty was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Wakeman, and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, canning, yard work, reading, crossword puzzle books, sewing, and going on nature walks. She especially enjoyed the love of her family.
Betty is survived by her children, Carl (Elaine) Myers. of Norwalk, Tom (Kathy) Myers, of Collins, Nancy (Duane) Molnar, of Miramar, Fla., Jim Myers, of Hollywood, Fla., Bernard (June) Myers, of Collins, and Rodger Myers, of Collins; 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Betty is also survived by her siblings, Melba Johns, of Sandusky,,June Illig, of Sandusky, Marlene Pocock, of Sandusky, Patricia Swander, of Arizona, Elwood (Woody) Matter, of Fremont, and Dean Matter, of Sandusky.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Joseph Myers; her son, Ralph in infancy; her siblings, Gertrude Wobser, Mildred Bertschi, Oliver "Bus" Matter, and Leon Matter; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Minerva Myers; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Therese and Bob Nagy.
Friends may call 2-5 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 22. Chaplain Melvin Sayler will officiate. Interment will be in Collins Cemetery.
