Lorain M. Phillips, 87, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Saturday morning, April 13, 2013, in Stein Hospice Care Center, following a brief illness.
She was born July 31, 1925, in Crystal Falls, Mich., daughter of the late Joseph and Ada (Hooper) Lada.
Lorain worked in the graduate office at Northern Michigan University, retiring in 1985.
She was an avid bridge player, loved shopping, and bowled for many years. Lorain enjoyed retirement for 21 years in Sun City West, Ariz., and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild.
She is survived by her daughter, Hallie (Bob) Dessecker, of Sandusky; and three grandchildren, Lee (Julia) Dessecker, Neil Dessecker and Dirk Dessecker (fiancé, Abigail Dulworth); and one great-grandchild, Lee.
Lorain was preceded in death by her husband, Walter A. Phillips, in 2010, whom she married June 27, 1948; her parents; and her brother, Calvin Lada.
There will be no visitation. Services will be private at a later date in Michigan. Groff Funeral Home, Sandusky, is handling her arrangements.
