Nancy J. (Beier) Newsome, 84, of Huron died Wednesday, March 3, 2010, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
She was born July 13, 1925, in Akron. She graduated from Coventry High School in Akron and attended Kent State University. She worked 17 years as a librarian technician for Huron High School and retired in 1985. During her entire adult life she resided in Chaska Beach and enjoyed her neighbors, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Huron, and belonged to Alpha Phi Sorority and Huron Yacht Club.
She is survived by her two daughters, Dianna Thoreson of Huron and Patricia (James) Bollenbacher of Huron; son, Roy E. ( Joni) Newsome III of Naples, Fla.; eight grandchildren, James Jr., Beth Anne, Kristy and Brian Bollenbacher, Kirsta (Pat) Lagando, Amanda (Doug) Steinwart, Megan (Jerry) Fletcher and Christopher Thoreson; nine great grandchildren, Olivia, Luke and Jake Lagando, Kate and Leah Steinwart, Maddie, Hayden and Isaac Fletcher, and Mikey Thoreson; two sisters, Barbara (Elgie) Dinsmore of Swansboro, N.C., and Georgia (James) Young of Homosassa, Fla.; and brother, William (Joanne) Beier of Oneco, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Newsome, in 2003; and parents, William E. and Dorothy (Houser) Beier.
Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Friday in Foster Funeral Home, 410 Main St., Huron. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main St., Huron. The Rev. Jeffery Sikorski will officiate. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery, Huron.
