Geraldine F. "Gerry" Abele-O'Rork, 93, of Sandusky, passed away late Sunday morning, April 7, 2013, in the Parkvue Healthcare Center, Sandusky.
She was born May 12, 1919, in Chattanooga, Tenn., the daughter of Taylor and Marion (Riggsby) Ford. She was a 1937 graduate of Sandusky High School and Bowling Green State University. Gerry taught second grade at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School for many years and was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Shirley (Peter) DuBois of Sandusky, and Sally Kathleen (Carl) Horn of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren; half-sister, Joan (Robert) Gunn of Lake Okeechobee, Fla.; and nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Abele; second husband, Wayne O'Rork; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be 8:30-9:40 a.m. Thursday, April 11, at David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, with a time of prayers at 9:40 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, Fr. Eric Mueller officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
