Thomas George Reel died Monday, April 1, 2013, in Stein Hospice Care Center,n Sandusky.  

 
Tom was born Aug. 1, 1933,  in Canton, Ohio, the youngest of four sons born to of Lewis Melvin Reel and Frieda Feik Reel.
 
He attended The Ohio State University in Columbus for four years and was drafted into the U.S. Navy.  When he finished his Navy stint he returned to Ohio State and finished the requirements for his degree.  He lived in Milan for 50 years and had an office on the square for 30 years where he practiced civil engineering and surveying.
 
Tom attended Milan Methodist Church and sang in the church choir for years.  He played softball up until his final year of life, loved fishing, golf and disc golf, was a member of CMBC, and was a ham radio operator, WB8SBJ. He was a member of the Milan Cemetery Board and was involved in many other activities.  While on the cemetery board he set up a web site whereby anyone could look up a friend or relative and find out where they were buried and see a photo of the grave marker.
 
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Norma (Crisp), and their four sons and their families, Richard, of California, Edward and Steven, of Columbus,  and Rodger, of Bellville.  Tom was intelligent, principled, honest, reliable, selfless, encouraging, dry humored and always interesting to be around.  The world has lost a wonderful man.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Richard and Kenneth Reel.
 
Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 5, at Groff Funeral Home and Crematory, 1 S. Main St. Milan. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at Edison Memorial United Methodist Church, 10 E. Church St., Milan. The Rev. Barbara Stephens-Rich will officiate. Private burial will take place later in Milan Cemetery .
