Lorraine A. Mellio, 84, of Sandusky, passed away Friday afternoon, March 29, 2013, in Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.
Lorraine A. Mellio was born Sept. 20, 1928, in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Louise “Jean” (Wirick) Gilmore.
Lorainne graduated from Sandusky High School in 1946. She was an executive secretary for General Motors for more than 40 years.
She was a member of Edison Memorial Methodist Church, Sandusky American Legion Auxiliary, and Milan Garden Club.
She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Peter Mellio; her first cousin, Beverly Steinert, of Mayfield Heights in Cleveland, Ohio; two nieces, Stephanie (Spires) Gretz, of Weddington, N. C., and Paula (Spires) Elias of Ecino, Calif.; two brothers, James (Judy) Adams and Robert (Sis) Adams, of Pittsburgh; many other family members, and friends.
Including her mother, Lorraine was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Sue M. Spires in August 2012.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, until services at 1 p.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, Sandusky. The Rev. Michael Gulgas, of St. Nickolas Greek Orthodox Church, Lorain, and the Rev. Barbara E. Stephens-Rich, of Edison Memorial United Methodist Church, Milan, will co-officiate. A private family burial will take place at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
