Joseph P. Herhold, 62, of Sandusky, passed away Wednesday evening, March 27, 2013, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.
Joseph was born Nov. 2, 1950, in Sandusky, to Edward and Virginia (Schaefer) Herhold. Joseph was a 1969 graduate of Sandusky High School. He was employed by Pick n Pay and Double S Industries for many years.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He resided at Bayshore Towers before a decline in his health when he went to live at Erie County Care Facility, where he loved to greet all the residents and staff. He was an avid Ohio sports fan — the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns were his favorites. Joseph enjoyed all 70s music, especially the Beatles.
Including his parents, Joseph is survived by his two sisters, Susan (William) Guhl, of Weston, Ohio and Lisa Herhold, of Sandusky; four brothers, John (Sharon), of Mathews, N.C., James (Sue), of Jacksonville, Fla., Jeffrey (Grizel), of Las Vegas, and Steven (Lisa) Herhold, of Virginia Beach, Va.; 10 nieces and nephews; five great-nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. Saturday, March 30, until funeral service at 11 a.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Jason Kahle, of Sandusky St. Mary’s Catholic Church, will be officiating.
