Rodney L. Feyedelem, 66, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly early Monday morning, March 25, 2013, at his home.
He was born March 28, 1946, in Sandusky, son of the late Lawrence and Connie (Volz) Feyedelem. Rod was a 1964 graduate of St. Mary High School and attended Bowling Green State University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served on the USS Sandoval during the Vietnam War. Rod retired as a yard master for Conrail, having worked on the railroad for 25 years.
He will be remembered as an avid sportsman and had a passion to help kids. He coached Little League baseball in the area for 35 years and was the sports coordinator at the Sandusky YMCA, organizing youth athletics, such as flag football, soccer, basketball and other sports activities for more than 10 years. His favorite team was the Notre Dame Fightin Irish.
Rod was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and had attended Holy Angels Catholic Church, and was a member of AMVETS Post 17 and a past officer.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Claire F. (Choquette) Feyedelem; two sons, Jude (Kristy) Feyedelem, of Lakewood, Ohio, and Justin Feyedelem, of Sandusky; two granddaughters, Abby and Lyla; two brothers, Brian and Daryl Feyedelem; and a sister, Jane Feyedelem.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Frank and Freda Volz.
At his request, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Cremation has taken place.
