Velma (Pavia) Krueger, 86, of Sandusky, passed away early Tuesday evening, March 19, 2013, at her residence following a six-year illness.
She was born March 8, 1927, in Sandusky, daughter of the late Phillip and Mary (Buscemi) Pavia.
Velma was a lifetime member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Sandusky, and a past member of its Rosary Alter Society. In her spare time, Velma enjoyed cooking, baking cookies, watching old movies, and most of all, spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren who called her “Grandma Cookie” because of her many specialty cookies.
Velma is survived by her three daughters, Kathy (Joseph) Gennari, Susan (Tony) Sidoti and Debbie (Jack) Galati; her eight grandchildren, Jay (Tina), Jude (Lisa), Jarrod (Aimèe), Justin (Kristen) Gennari, Gia (Rick) Gennari-Lynch, Brigette, Donovan and Ryan Cole; 20 great-grandchildren; many cousins here and in Sicily; several loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Velma was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert John Krueger, in 1987; her parents; eight siblings; five nephews; and one niece.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Thursday, March 21, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 22,, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Joe Steinbauer will officiate. Burial will take place at Calvary cemetery. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, Sandusky are handling arrangements.
