Helen May Aldrich

Helen May Aldrich, 92, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Monday, March 18, 2013, in the Commons of Providence in Sandusky following a brief illness.
She was born on Jan. 7, 1921, in Tinney, Ohio, to Byron F. and Mabel G. (Hummel) Aldrich. Helen graduated from Jackson Centralized High School in Burgoon, Ohio, and then attended Sandusky Business College.
Helen was employed for 21 years at the Hinde and Dauch Paper Company in the main office. She also worked for 20 years in the administration office of the Sandusky City Schools, from which she retired in 1985.
Helen was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Sandusky for over 40 years, where she taught Sunday School classes and was active in other groups. She was also a volunteer for the Sandusky City Schools and Firelands Habitat for Humanity.
Helen is survived by her sister, Joan (Timothy) Shanahan of Fremont; sister-in-law Kathryn Aldrich of Edgewater, Md.; and many beloved nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Byron (Florence) Aldrich and Mabel (Clyde) Smith; three brothers, Harold Aldrich, Richard Aldrich, John “Jack” Aldrich; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis and Mary Aldrich; half brother, Ronald (Betty) Smith; step sisters, Theodora (Robert) Gardner, Alice (Walter) Grasser, Phyllis (Lonnie) Shelby; step brother, Stanley (Thelma) Smith; and seven nieces and nephews.
At the request of the deceased there will be no visitation or services. The Groff Funeral Home and Crematory in Sandusky are handling the arrangements.
