Diane (Brogoch) Laudonia, 63, of Vermilion, died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at her home after a battle with cancer.
She was born Sept. 19, 1949, in Cleveland and was a Vermilion resident for the last 40 years moving from Cleveland. Diane graduated from Mayfield High School in 1967, she received her bachelor’s degree from Kent State University, and her Masters degree in Education from Bowling Green State University. Her passion was being a fifth and sixth grade teacher for Vermilion Schools for 25 years, retiring in 2005.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion In Bloom, OEA, Thunderbird Women’s Golf League and various book clubs. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading and especially spending time with friends.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Frank Laudonia, of Vermilion; daughters, Sara (Nick Sanzo) Laudonia, of Napa, Calif., and Megan (Jon) McCaskey, of Westlake, Ohio; granddaughter, Millicent Sanzo; stepgrandson, Ian McCaskey; father, Anthony Brogoch, of Vermilion; and brother, Gary (Barbara) Brogoch, of Shanghai, China.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Anne (Zadnik) Brogoch in 2010, and sister, Linda Bubis in 2007.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, March 18, at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion, where prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange St., Vermilion. The Rev. Ronald Brickner will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
