Virginia A. Lutes

Virginia A. Lutes, 79, of Peoria, Ill., passed away at 8:58 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.
She was born July 9, 1933, in Sandusky, to Elmer and Bernice (Wahl) Miller. She married Wendell “John” Lutes in Sandusky, May 7, 1966, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 2013.  
Virginia received her RN degree from the Toledo Hospital School of Nursing in Toledo. She worked at the Ohio State University Hospital and at Riverside Methodist Hospital. After moving to Peoria she worked at Proctor Hospital and at Rosewood Nursing Home before retiring in 1999. Donating blood was very important to her. She donated over 40 gallons of blood in her lifetime. Virginia was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Peoria.
Surviving is her brother, Dr. Dave (Sheila) Miller of DeLand, Fla.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Rachel; and two brothers, Charles and Curtis.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 14, at Salem Lutheran Church, Peoria, with Rev. Stephen Barnes officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church.
Schmidt-Haller Burial and Cremation Services in Peoria are in charge of arrangements.
