Naomi Mickens, 89, of Sandusky, passed away early Saturday morning, March 9, 2013, in Providence Care Center.
She was born Aug. 17, 1923, in Durant, Miss., to William and Willie (Wright) Bailey.
Naomi enjoyed her family and friends for 89 years.
She is survived by her children, Ezell (Sharon) Smith, Betty Simmons, Irma Smith, Harold Dee Smith, Naomi Tyler, Nate Sanford Smith, Jake Smith, Jackie Smith, and Francis (Eli) Copeland; sister, Alberta Brown; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luke Mickens; parents; daughter, Marianne Goodwin; brothers, Charles James, and Lawrence Bailey; and sister, Sue (Bailey) Newton.
Friends may call noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Thomas Fant will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.

Our prayers go out to the Smith family. My earliest memories of "LIFE" include this family and when I look back I am grateful that Miss Smith was a part of them.
