Mary C. (Ruffing) Rekart

Mary C. (Ruffing) Rekart, 86, formerly of Norwalk, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, in Parkvue Health Care Center in Sandusky.

Mary was born April 8, 1926, in Bismark, Ohio, daughter of the late Aloysius and Anne (Wise) Ruffing. She was a graduate of St. Paul High School and was a secretary of the St. Paul Alumni Association. She was corporate secretary for P and R Electric in Norwalk, manager of the Huron County License Bureau in the early 1980’s, and was also a real estate agent for Century 21 for many years. 

She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society, and an active member of the Huron County Republican Women’s Association for many years. She enjoyed cooking with her sister, Florence, at the rectory for the priests for many years, and planting the church’s spring flowers. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at the lake, and traveling in her later years with her husband.

She is survived by her husband, Clyde Rekart, of Sandusky; and children, Maryann (Jon) Jefferis, of Huron, Thomas (Vickie) Rekart, of Annapolis, Md., Kathi Linton, of Aiken, S.C., Patti (Jim) Creamer, of Indianapolis, and Marc (Stella) Rekart, of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, the Rev. Joseph Ruffing, of Smithfield, Va., Dorothy (John) Wagener, of Columbus, Robert Ruffing, of Norwalk, Sister Mildred Ruffing, HM, of Youngstown, Ohio, the Rev. Norman Ruffing, of Willits, Calif., and Norbert (Mary) Ruffing, of Bratenahl, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Florence A Ruffing.

Friends may call 4-6 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main S., Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Frank Kehres, pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
