Herbert W. “Bill” Hayward, 87, of Bellevue passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010, in Stein Hospice, Sandusky.
He was born March 20, 1922, in York Twp., the son of Herbert C. and Viola (Spayd) Hayward. He married Arlene A. Swedersky, July 6, 1943, in Bellevue; she preceded him in death November, 2007.
Bill was employed at the railroad, farmed in York Township, and was a school bus driver for York School. He was a past member of the York Grange and member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. He also served our country during World War II in the Army Corps of Engineers.
He is survived by his daughter, Christine Ann Hayward of Albuquerque, N.M.; and sister, Jane Hayward Richards of Clyde. Bill has been cared for by the Goodsite family, who took loving care of him for the past two years.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Asa F. Hayward.
Friends will be received 4-6 p.m. Sunday in Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday in Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 7500 N. Seneca County Road 29, Flat Rock. Burial will take place in York Chapel Cemetery.
