George C. Miller Sr.

George C. Miller Sr., 75, of Vickery, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 17, 1937, in Branchland, W.Va., and was employed by LTV Steel in Cleveland. 

He delivered for Meals on Wheels, volunteered at the Senior Center, and played dartball with the Erie County Dartball League. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Castalia, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his dogs, fishing, hunting and camping. George also enjoyed building stock cars. He was Ohio State Champion Stock Car Racer for eight years, and also was NHRA Champion Drag Racer for six years.

He is survived by his second wife, Ginny; a daughter, Charlotte (James) Durkos, of Confluence, Pa.; two sons, George (Janis) Miller Jr.. of Toledo. and John (Linda) Miller, of Vickery; five grandchildren, Eric Miller, Loretta Miller, Ashley Stockwell, Allison Leckrone and McKenna Leckrone; a great-grandson, Bentley Miller; nephew, Kenneth Miller, of Cleveland; stepchildren and their spouses, Donald and Linda McKillips, of Castalia, Debi Chapman, of Castalia, Allan and Jill McKillips , Keith and Sue McKillips, and Julie McKillips, all of Sandusky, Cyndi Boggs, of Bellevue, Ginger and Tom Moses, of Clyde, Bill and Suzanne McKillips, of Sandusky, Rob and Jenn McKillips, of Norwalk, and Vicki and Mike Chamberlain, of Sandusky; 29 stepgrandchildren; 34 stepgreat grandchildren; and 4 step-great-great-grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his first wife, Loretta Miller; his parents; two brothers, Ray and Marvin Miller; grandson, Jay Miller; and his favorite companion, Brandy Lynn.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, until a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 203 S. Washington St., Castalia. The Rev. Kathleen Suggitt will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stein Hospice Services, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870, or to Grace Lutheran Church, Castalia. 

Ransom Funeral Home, Castalia, is handling arrangement. Condolences may be shared with the family at
