Betty A. Redmond, 85, of Port Clinton passed away Friday, May 14, 2010, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
She was born Dec. 13, 1924, in Cleveland, the daughter of Arthur and Jenny (Fernbach) Aring. On June 15, 1946, in Youngstown, Ohio, she married R. Glenn Redmond; he preceded her in death March 18, 2004.
Betty was a homemaker for many years and also worked as a secretary for the Port Clinton Chamber of Commerce for five to six years, Wiseman Insurance Agency for five years, Lakeside Association for two years and Western Union in Cleveland for four years. She retired in 1981. Betty was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, and a member of the Serra Circle at the church. She also was a past member of the Priscilla Circle at St. John Lutheran Church. Betty was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.
Survivors include her daughters, Jeanne (Larry) Long of Flagler Beach, Fla., and Barbara Roberts of Vermilion; sons, Robert Glenn (Deborah) Redmond Jr. of Port Clinton and John (Michelle) Redmond of Seattle; grandchildren, Jerry Reckart and Jennifer Reckart of Flagler Beach, Sarah (Jeff), Melissa and Jessica Roberts of Vermilion, and Adrian Redmond of Washington, DC; great-granddaughter, Aubrey; brother, Edward (Barbara) Aring of Valley View, Ohio; and sister, Doris Wahl of Sagimore Hills, Ohio.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ethel Aring; and son-in-law, Bobby Roberts.
A gathering of family and friends will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday in Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, immediately followed at 11 a.m. by a memorial service conducted by Pastor Michael Wiechers. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton.
Memorial contributions in memory of Betty may be given to Peace Lutheran Church or Stein Hospice, Sandusky.
