Arthur F. Rider, 82, of North Fairfield, Ohio, died Saturday evening, Feb. 16, 2013, in Twilight Gardens Nursing Home.
He was born July 28,1930, in Port Clinton, to Thomas and Prudence M. (Morgan) Rider and was a lifelong area resident.
Arthur was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea. He retired from the Erie County Sheriff's Department. Arthur was a Major, K-9 handler, and bailiff in the Huron County Sheriff's Department, and was the former owner of Art's Auto Body. He was a member of the Erie and Huron County Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police. Arthur enjoyed hunting, NASCAR, four wheeling, dog training and animals.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Leanne M. and Charles Zeller of Cape Coral, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, Mark H. and Kathy Rider of North Fairfield; grandchildren, Bryan Zeller, Sarah and Billy Johnson and Jason and Marta Biglin; six great-grandchildren; brother, John Rider of Wickliffe, Ohio; sister, Margie Kaman of Sandusky; and dear friends, Carl Schwanagan and Doug Slagle.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynda in 2001, and nine brothers and sisters.
