Esther Emma (Maus) Unckrich, 97, of Sandusky, passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
She was born March 28, 1915, in Sandusky, the daughter of John and Emma (Walker) Maus. Esther married Roland J. Unckrich Sr. on June 17, 1937, in Sandusky.
Esther was employed by the Sandusky City Schools cafeteria. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was the matriarch of the church. She was a member of the Singara Caldron.
She is survived by her son, Roland J. (Sonya) Unckrich Jr. of Sandusky; two daughters, Betty (Jerry) Weyer of Huron, Jean (Allen) Puckrin of Sandusky; seven grandchildren, Scott (June Bonningson) Unckrich of Sandusky, Craig (Stephanie) Unckrich of Alliance, Ohio, Jay Weyer of Miamisburg, Ohio, Tim (Kim) Weyer of Huron, Steve (Tammy) Puckrin, Mike Puckrin, and Debbie (Kevin) Canino, all of Sandusky; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Roland J. Unckrich Sr.; her parents, John and Emma Maus; and brothers, John Maus and Glenn Maus.
Friends may call 9:30-11a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2211 Mills St., Sandusky. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, Rev. Al Swartz will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
