Lewis Marenberg, 91, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Wednesday Morning, Feb. 13, 2013, in Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.
Lewis was born May 20, 1921, in Toledo, son of the late Ruben and Rebecca (Kawalski) Marenberg. Lewis was a 1938 graduate of Scott High School, and the University of Toledo with a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
He served in the Army Air Corps from 1943-46 as a first lieutenant aircraft maintenance officer. While in the service, he married Helen Louise Petty.
Upon his discharge, he was employed at Toledo Industrial Rubber, Ottawa Chemical, and was a plant engineer for Clevite/Gould/Tenneco Automotive until his retirement in 1986.
He was a member of Oheb Shalom Temple. He enjoyed gardening, photography, and was an avid reader.
Lewis is survived by his daughter, Marsha (Paul) Kimmelman, of Mississippi; his son, Lee (Chris) Marenberg, of Toledo, Kevin (Ruth) Marenberg, of Sandusky; 10 grandchildren (including his granddaughter, Jade, who was always by his side for the last two years of his life); eight great-grandchildren; stepson, Lorin (Eileen) Zaner, of Toledo; stepdaughter, Claire (Stan); stepgrandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Ann.
Lewis was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Louise (Petty), and his second wife, Beatrice Moscoviz-Zaner; his parents; his brother, Leonard, and his sister, Mildred Schwartz; and his stepson, Alan Zaner.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, until funeral services at 10 a.m. at Groff Funeral Home and Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow in Oheb Shalom Cemetery, Sandusky.
