Richard J. Dennis, 81, residing in Sandusky, passed away late Wednesday evening, Feb. 7, 2013, at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Richard was born Sept. 15, 1931, in Fostoria, Ohio, son of the late Louis and Dolores (Hilditch) Dennis. He was a 1949 graduate of St. Mary Central Catholic High School, and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Richard worked for Davis Besse and Chrysler Plastics. He retired in 2008 after 26 years as a senior technical consultant for CATSI, Inc. He was very proud of his personal and professional accomplishments throughout the years.
Richard enjoyed the breakfast club , building model planes, building and racing his go-karts — but his true passion was flying. He owned and flew his own planes. His other hobbies included reading, classical music, computers, dining out, and spending time with his family and friends.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Christine (Bill) Henderly, of Sandusky; his sons, Marty (Pat) Dennis, of Portland, Ore., and Jeff (Sue) Dennis, of Monteville, Maine; six grandchildren, Dawn, Jordan, Cory, Alyssa, Jarrod and Aaron; one sister, Virginia (Ron) Wilson, of Sandusky; four brothers, Dr. Michael (Gerilynn) Dennis, James Dennis, Louis Dennis and Tom (Helen) Dennis; several nieces, nephews and other relatives; and his best friend, Glen Waterfield.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores (Blade) in 2006; and his sons, Donald M. Dennis and Steven R. Dennis; his parents; and grandparents, Joseph and Anna Hilditch and Nickolas and Gertrude Dennis.
At Dick’s request, private family services will take place at a later date.
