Douglas R. Will, 55, residing in Temple, Texas, and formerly of Berlin Heights, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 31, as the result of a pedestrian accident.
Doug was born July 9, 1957, in Sandusky, son of Mildred (Lowman) Will and the late Robert Will. He was a 1975 graduate of Perkins High School and Bowling Green State University, where he majored in respiratory therapy. Doug worked for five years at the Cleveland Clinic and then moved to Texas and was employed at VA of Central Texas Healthcare System, where many of the co-workers called him a “Hero saving Heroes”.
Doug served as a member of the Berlin Heights Village Council for more than 10 years. He was a member of the Nazerene Church in Temple and the Temple Gun Club. He was an avid gun collector. He enjoyed shooting and was an active member of the NRA.
Doug is survived by his mother, Mildred Will, of Sandusky; his sons, Christopher, of Norwalk, and Jordan, of Sandusky; his granddaughter, Leylah; his sisters, Sandy (Jerry) Stacy, of Sandusky, Margaret (Jim) Fransen, of Arlington, Va., and Jane (Lee) Christenson, of Norwalk.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Will, in 1994; his sister, Mary Lay; and his grandparents, Wayne Lowman and Mildred Lowman Winkle and Karl and Regina Will.
Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Groff Funeral Home and Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where funeral services will at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9. Pastor David Flack o Sandusky Community Church of the Nazerene will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
