Marsha E. Standifer, of Phoenix, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, after dealing gracefully with cancer for more than four years. She was surrounded by her family throughout her illness and at the time of her death.
Marsha was born in Hamilton, Ohio, and graduated from Milan High School in 1967. She was an avid gardener and decorator who could create something stunning and beautiful from a blank slate.
She was a volunteer for a pet rescue organization where she started out fostering homeless pets. After adopting three dogs that she was supposed to be fostering, she realized that she needed to move to a different position within the rescue group because once she got her hands on a sad-eyed dog, she adopted it.
She was employed by the City of Phoenix.
Marsha is survived by her long-time partner, Mary Erickson; her sister, Jeanette Standifer and Jeanette’s partner, Linda Coe.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle Standifer and her father Howard Standifer.
Marsha requested that no funeral services take place.
