James D. "Jimmie" Porter, 78, of Sandusky, passed away late Saturday afternoon, Feb. 2, 2013, in his home.
He was born Aug. 31, 1934, in Louisville, Ky.
Jimmie was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served from 1955 -1962. He had worked as a compliance specialist for the U.S. Department of Labor for many years, retiring in 1996. He loved bowling and golfing and had been a member in a couple of local leagues throughout the years.
He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and had been very active in a variety of different programs within the church; member of Knights of Columbus Council 546; and AMVETS Post 17.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Paulette Lee (Pszenny) Porter; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Dorothy (Mattingly) Porter; and several brothers.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Prayers will be recited at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, Rev. Joe Steinbauer officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 83 Honor Guard. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Calvary Cemetery Columbarium, Sandusky.
