Harold G. Leber, 93, of Sandusky, passed away early Friday afternoon, Feb. 1, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born May 15, 1919, in Sandusky, son of the late Edward Jacob and Margaretha (Ries) Leber. Harold attended Sandusky Public Schools. He was a lifelong farmer, having farmed his family farm for many years and he also worked for the Ohio Turnpike Commission as a toll collector for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1985.
He loved spending time with his family, traveling, camping and square dancing and was a square dance caller for the Quarter Notes.
Harold was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ where he held several positions throughout the years and was a lifelong member of the church choir. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Turnpike Neighbors Farm Bureau Council.
He is survived by his family, Terry (Karen) Leber, Lance (Terri) Leber, Jill Weilnau, Randy (Penny) Leber and Holly (David) Yetter; special companion, Carole Midkiff; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian "Pete" (Graham) Leber on Aug. 11, 1983; a grandson, Charles Harold Leber; his parents; three brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, and from 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, funeral services at 11 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ, Mason and Thomas roads, Milan. The Rev. Wendy Schindler-Chasney will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Milan.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to St. John's United Church of Christ, 2712 W. Mason Road, Milan, OH 44846.
