Jonathan Keith Schaeffer, 26, residing in Bellevue, passed away Wednesday morning, Jan. 30, 2013.
Jonathan was born March 6, 1986, in Sandusky, to William and Terri (Mowry) Schaeffer. He was a 2005 graduate of Bellevue High School, and received an Associate’s Degree in Forestry from Hocking College in 2007. He was employed at Brier Oak Hunt Club in Bellevue. He had also worked for Fed Ex and was enrolled in the work study program for a biology lab at The Ohio State University.
Jon was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Oxford Hustlers 4H Club, and in high school was a member of the FFA. In his spare time, Jon enjoyed being outdoors. He loved animals, and was well-liked by his friends.
Jon is survived by his parents; his sister, Sarah (Richard) Thomas. of Dayton, Ohio; paternal grandparents, John and Alvina Schaeffer, of Bellevue; aunts and uncles, Karen (Lee) Kautz, of Monroeville, Daniel Schaeffer, Kevin Schaeffer, Debra (Thomas) Long, all of Bellevue, and Roger (Becky) Mowry, of Norwalk; his cousins, Erica, Francessa and Jesse Schaeffer, April Ball, Amy Long, Melanie, Tracy, Andrea and Evan Kautz, Leah Lepley and Dana Canfield.
Jon was preceded in death by his brother, Jeremey, at birth; his maternal grandparents, Marian and Dale Mowry Jr.; and his beloved dog Winston.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, until funeral services at 11 a.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 2712 Mason Road. Pastor Wendy Schindler-Chasney will officiate. Arrangements are being handled by Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, Sandusky.
