Milferd F. “Mush” Easton, 84, of Port Clinton, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, in Regency Hospital of Toledo in Sylvania, Ohio.
He was born March 14, 1928, in Port Clinton, son of the late Floyd and Malinda (Gleckler) Easton. He married Phyllis McBride on April 3, 1948, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 9, 1992. He then married Norma Jean Zelms on Oct. 16, 1993, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 12, 2012.
Mush worked at the Erie Army Depot in Port Clinton until 1966 and then as a custodian at Port Clinton City Schools until his retirement in 1985.
He was a member of the Port Clinton Fire Department for more than 50 years and was a member of the Port Clinton EMS for more than 25 years where he served as assistant chief. He also helped out with the Port Clinton Football Chain Gang for more than 50 years. He was a longtime member of the Men’s Prayer Breakfast Club at Trinity United Methodist Church in Port Clinton. He enjoyed driving around Catawba Island and the Marblehead Peninsula in his spare time. He also enjoyed doing puzzles.
Survivors include his daughters, Sharon Kay Easton, of Salem, Ohio, Donna Jean Easton, of Toledo, and Kimberly Sue (Jeff) Jones, of Port Clinton; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Lila Ford, of Lancaster, Ohio, and Joann Moon, of Port Clinton.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton St., Port Clinton, with firefighter services by members of the Port Clinton Fire Department at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the funeral home. Pastor Deron Fourman will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton.
