Ruth P. Hunker, 85, and residing in Sandusky, passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 29, 2013, in Lutheran Memorial Home following a long-term illness.
Ruth was born Feb. 21, 1927, daughter of the late Bernard Michael and Ada Mae (Lutes) Palmer.
Ruth graduated from Mary Manse College in Toledo where she received her degree in education. Ruth taught at many schools all over Ohio and Missouri for 30 years. Locally she taught at Sandusky and Perkins elementary schools. She specialized in primary educational reading.
Ruth was a member of Peace Presbyterian Church in Stuart, Fla. She was a loving sister and mother who in her spare time enjoyed singing in choirs, music, and spending time with family.
Ruth is survived by her two sons, William and David Cover; her daughter, Janet Bailey; two step-daughters, Debbie Hoffman and Frances Smelser; eight grandchildren; one, great-grandson; two brothers, Bernard and Landon Palmer; one sister, June Johnson; several nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her previous husband, William H. Cover, in 1986; her husband, Francis “Sam” Hunker, in 2011; her parents; and her brother, William Palmer.
