Gertrudis "Trudy" Vicente DelAguaro, 90, residing in Elyria, passed peacefully early Friday morning, Jan. 25, 2013, following a brief illness.
Gertrudis was born July 30, 1922, in Bais City, Philippines, where she lived until moving to Ohio in 1945 as a war bride. She was married to Kenneth William (Smith) DelAguaro for 44 years. The DelAguaros spent their retirement years in the Florida Keys. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family.
Gertrudis was the beloved mother of Dolores (William) Fitch, of Elyria, Michael (Susan), of Knoxville, Tenn., Christina (Robert) Spears, of Sandusky, Steven (Susan), of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Mark (Maryann), of Westerville, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Gertrudis is also survived by brothers, Bruno (Charito), Ignacio (Angela), Lorenzo (Pilar) and sister, Dolores (Manolo) Ortiz, all of Bais City, and Milagros (Felix) Pintado, of New South Wales, Australia; many nieces and nephews in the Philippines, Spain, England and Australia.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Gaspar and Maria (Longa) Vicente; two sisters, Pacita Vicente Yoldi and Josefa Vicente.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, until a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky. Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory is handling arrangements for the family.
