Francis R. “Frank” Kovalik, 88, of Catawba Island, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton.
He was born on Nov. 23, 1924, in Cleveland, Ohio, the eldest son of Frank and Mary (Madger) Kovalik. Frank was a graduate of John Hay High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the European Theater, including the Battle of the Bulge.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Anne (Groholy); daughter, Kristina, of Sandusky, brother, Richard (Bonnie) of Medina, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Jim, and Paul (Alicia); and sisters, Agnes (Michael) Bednar, and Irene (Michael) Robatin.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton St., Port Clinton. Prayers will begin at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at the funeral home, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 1 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison St., Port Clinton. Rev. John C. Missler will officiate. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 1750, or to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
