Erasmo De Leon, 72, of Port Clinton, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, in Edgewood Manor Nursing Center, Port Clinton.
He was born June 7, 1940, in Pharr, Texas, the son of Jose Angel and Marta (Flores) De Leon. On Dec. 30, 2003, in Port Clinton, he married Margaret "Peggy" Smith and she survives.
Erasmo worked as a machine operator for Sandusky Athol until his retirement. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He loved camping, fishing, spending time with his family and friends, cookouts and working on cars. He was an assistant scout master for Troop 351 and an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland Indians. Erasmo will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret "Peggy" De Leon; sons, Eddie (Belia) De Leon and Javier (Joyce) De Leon; daughter, Melissa (Mark) French; siblings, Feliciano (Rose) De Leon, Maria G. (Miguel) Castillo-Palacios, Merardo (Maria) De Leon, Jacinta Vega and Eva (Antonio) Cancino; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Erasmo was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Yolanda A. De Leon; son, Homero De Leon; and two infant sisters.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton. Family prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at the funeral home. A mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton. Interment will be in LaCarpe Cemetery, Lacarne, Ohio.
Memorial donations in memory of Erasmo may be given to Stein Hospice Inc., Sandusky.
