Calvin D. Weyer, 73, of Sandusky, passed away after a brief illness, early Saturday morning, Jan. 19, 2013, in his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on Oct. 14, 1939, in Sandusky, the son of Alvenius Andrew and Edna Roselyn (Grealy) Weyer.
Cal was a 1957 graduate of Sandusky High School. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy and had been a member of the Ohio National Guard. Cal worked at the Ford Motor Company for 30 years, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time riding on his Harley-Davidson.
He was a life member and past commander of the V.F.W. Post 2529, American Legion Post 83, life member of the AMVETS Post 17, Sandusky Eagles Aerie 444, and a life member of the Harley-Davidson Hog Club.
He is survived by his mother, Edna R. (Grealy) Weyer of Castalia; his family, Keith (Tracy) Weyer of Castalia, Paula Weyer of Columbus, Kevin (Connie) Weyer of Whites Landing, Arthur (Melissa) Weyer of Sandusky, and Amanda Till of Clyde; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Michael (Josephine) Weyer of Fremont; four nieces and a nephew.
Cal was preceded in death by his father, Alvenius A. Weyer; and son, Andrew Weyer.
At his request no visitation will be held and cremation will take place. A private family interment will take place later in Castalia Cemetery.
