Robert M. "Bob" Cunningham, 91, of Norwalk, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, in Gaymont Nursing Center.
He was born Nov. 19, 1921, in Pittsburgh, to John A. and Carrie (McLaren) Cunningham, and came to this area in 1986 from Pittsburgh.
Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II, and was a member of the Norwalk First Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of Roby Lodge 534 F. & A.M., of Monroeville, Penn Hills Lodge 635 F. & A.M. of Pittsburgh, Chapter, Consistory, and Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh, Grotto of Sandusky, and was a life member of Firelands Post 2743 VFW, Norwalk.
Bob was a lineman for Bell Telephone of Pittsburgh, and retired in 1982. He enjoyed woodworking and wood carving, reading, and especially enjoyed spending time with his great-grandchildren and family.
Bob is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Sharlene and Russell White of Norwalk, and Diane and Ralph Meyer of Emlenton, Pa.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen (Smith) Cunningham in 2012; and by his twin sister, Gertrude McCurry.
Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. Visitation will also be 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at First Presbyterian Church, 21 Firelands Blvd., Norwalk, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Adrian Doll will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk.
