James H. Krentz, 88, of Norwalk, died Thursday, May 13, 2010, in Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.
He was born April, 3, 1922, in Coraopolis, Pa., son of the late Frank and Carrie (Heymann) Krentz. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a salvage and deep sea diver and a motor machinist mate from 1943-46. He worked many years as a steel worker at LTV Steel in Aliquippa, Pa. He moved to Norwalk in 2005 and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and home repairs.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean Krentz of Norwalk; daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Wayne Babcanec of Norwalk; brother Robert (Margy) Krentz of Magnolia Springs, Ala.; grandsons, Ben (Dinah) Babcanec of Gahanna, Ohio, and Joe (Lisa) Babcanec of Powell, Ohio; and great-grandson, Leo Babcanec.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Hubert Krentz; and sisters, Gertrude Heinlein and Helen Rutledge.
There will be no visitation. A Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Frank Kehres, pastor of the church, will officiate. A luncheon and military rites will immediately follow at the church. Private interment will be at a later date.
