Evelyn Kay (Todd) Wheelock, 73, of Ruggles Beach, Huron, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain after a sudden illness.
Evelyn was born Dec. 16, 1939, in Amherst, Ohio, and had been a life long Vermilion and Huron resident.
Evelyn grew up on Todd's Peach Farm in Vermilion. She had been a secretary for Cleveland Quarries, Amber Milling, Latanick Equipment, Vermilion Boat Club, Berlin Milan School System and Kernel's Machining. She was a member of the United Church of Christ, Vermilion, and was active in the Business and Professional Women's Club.
Evelyn loved the beach, traveling, gardening, snow skiing, book club, bunko, and her bowling group. Above all, she adored spending time with her family especially her granddaughters and cherished her many friends.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, George Wheelock of Huron; daughter, Wendi (Mike) Pannucci of Curitiba, Parana, Brazil; sons, Todd and Whit of Keystone, Colo.; granddaughters, Olivia and Roxi; brother, Gene (Polly) Todd of Vermilion; and aunt, Fern Haughwout of Vermilion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Ruth (Bauman) Todd; and her brother, Millard.
The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the United Church of Christ Congregational, 990 State St., Vermilion. The Reverend Bob Richardson will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
