Virginia D. Dole, 84, of Norwalk, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, in Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
She was born May 19, 1928, in Greenwich, daughter of the late Bennie M. and Mildred L. (White) Keefer. Virginia was a 1946 graduate of North Fairfield High School and returned to the Norwalk area from Lacawanna, N.Y.
Virginia was an active member of the Salvation Army, Norwalk, and was also a member of Firelands Post 2743 VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing in the fun band, playing Bingo and cards, cooking and spending time with her family.
Virginia is survived by her son, Kevin Dole, of Wakeman; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin and Ann Keefer, of Norwalk, Benjamin and Gert Keefer, of Willard, and Bernard and Rose Keefer, of Attica; her sisters-in-law, Barbara Keefer, of Willard, and Virginia Keefer and Ramona Keefer, of Norwalk. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews including her wonderful caregiver, Jackie (Keefer) Desmond, of Monroeville, and many cousins.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Ferdinand J. "Fred" Dole; her brothers, Richard, Lisle, Dale, Carroll and Maurice; her sisters, Bernadine Keefer and two still born sisters; and her sisters-in-law, Geraldine Keefer and Marcella Keefer.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, until the service at 1 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Everett Stoddard, pastor of Collins United Methodist Church, will officiate. Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
