Edward George Dehn, 69, of Sandusky, passed away early Monday morning, Jan. 7, 2013, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky.
He was born July 3, 1943, in Sandusky, son of the late Warren John and Mary Louise (Boylestein) Dehn. He was a 1962 graduate of Sandusky High School. Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He received a Purple Heart.
For several years he worked at Sandusky Plastics, and prior to that he worked at Scott Paper.
In his earlier days he enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle around, and he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Ed was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Clyde Moose Lodge, and he was a life member of VFW Post 2529.
He is survived by his wife, Karen L. (Rice) Dehn; his family, Jennifer (Rowdy) Sherer of Huron, Dana (Dusty) Smith of Kansas City, Mo., Parker W. (Keara) Dehn of Pensacola, Fla., Melissa (Wade) Wargo of Sandusky and Lee (Mary) Galleto of Norwalk; six grandchildren and one on the way; four brothers, Warren “Butch” (Gwen) Dehn of Corpus Christi, Texas, John (Carolyn) Dehn of Sandusky, Fred (Dan) Dehn of Tamarac, Fla., and Richard (Pat) Dehn of Sandusky; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
At his request, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. John Mawhirter will officiate. Interment will be in Castalia Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 83 Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870 or to one’s favorite charity.
