Douglas “Doug” E. Pierce, 65, of Sandusky, passed away early Monday morning, Jan. 7, 2013, in Firelands Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness
He was born May 23, 1947, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., son of the late Clinton and Ethel (Booth) Pierce.
Doug was a U.S. Army veteran stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War Era.
He was a truck driver for many years.
Doug was a former member of American Legion Post 83. In his earlier years, he loved hunting. He also loved spending time with his nieces and nephews and his two dogs, Sassy and Coca.
Doug is survived by his children, Mechelle, of New York, Sherry, of North Carolina, and Lilo and Richard, of Sandusky; stepmother, Ann; siblings, Jerry, Larry, Jessie, Joey and Connie; stepsister, Anna “Cookie”; and his uncle, John Williams.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, until funeral services at 4 p.m. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Sheila Graves will officiate and American Legion Post 83 Honor Guard will provide military honors.
