Melvin E. Carbeno, 79, of Huron, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at his home after a brief illness.
He was born May 1, 1933, in Saginaw, Mich., and moved to Huron in 2001.
He worked for Michigan National Bank and Central Foundry GMC retiring in 1991.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Huron, and was involved with the Stephen Ministry. He enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, and camping.
He is survived by his daughter, Jean Kreidler, of Huron; sons, Steven (Perri) Carbeno, of Saginaw, and David Carbeno and companion, Stephen Linebaugh, of Lake Worth, Fla.; five grandchildren, Matthew, Brandon, Chad, Jameson and Deryk; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Shirley (Jerry) Goodman, of Boon, Mich., and Lorraine Mendyk, Marlene Gotham and Dorothy Strickland, all of Michigan; three brothers, Don (Barb) Bartlett and Dale (Nancy) Bartlett, of Michigan, and Joe Carbeno, of Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Shirley (Hartley); parents, Leonard and Olga Carbeno and biological mother, Edna Bartlett; and a brother, Gerald Carbeno.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan 5, until services at noon at Zion Lutheran Church, 930 Main St., Huron. The Rev. Mandy Oleson, pastor, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Huron.
