Arthur D. Miller, 91, of Bellevue, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, in his home.
He was born July 15, 1921, in Tiffin, Ohio, the son of Aaron and Nina (Biller) Miller. He was employed by Central Soya until his retirement in 1982, and was also the owner of A.D. Miller Construction. He married Betty Jane Murphy on April 11, 1942, at First Baptist Church, Bellevue. She preceded him in death in 2007.
Art was a World War II army veteran serving in Europe in the 778th Tank Battalion, 11th Armored Division. He served under General Patton in the Battle of the Bulge.
He was a member of First Baptist Church and VFW Post 1238, Bellevue. He enjoyed working around the house as he could fix anything, camping, and spending time with his family. He proudly displayed the American flag continuously for over 65 years.
He is survived by his daughters, Arlene (Leo) Missler of Bellevue, Kay (Jerry) Zieber of Bellevue, Peggy (Bill) Plate of Bellevue and Sally (Jim) Hamilton of Perrysburg, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Barnita Gerber of Bellevue and Juanita Sting of Tiffin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Mary Miller; great-grandson, Jax Dougherty; four sisters, Lillian Smith, Naomi Warner, Lucille Shell, Helen Schaaf; and brothers, Ralph, Albert, Aaron, and Boyd Miller.
Friends will be received 2-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Foos & Foos Funeral Service,151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5 at the funeral home. Rev. Dan Howard and Rev. Lee Weiss will officiate. Burial will follow at Bellevue City Cemetery with military honors.
