Harold Edmondson, 93, of Vermilion, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, in Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain, after a lengthy illness.
Harold was born March 5, 1919, in Cleveland, and was a Vermilion resident for the last 67 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving during WW II.
Harold worked for Smith Handle Co., Vermilion, and Nordson, Amherst, for 19 years.
He was a member of Vermilion Evangelical & Reformed Church, Vermilion, and was a 50-year member of the grange.
He enjoyed bowling, golfing, traveling, and country music.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Edna (Hackett) Edmondson, of Vermilion; daughters, Estrella Root, of Santa Fe, N.M., and Nancy (Bill) Hlavin, of Lakeville, Ohio; granddaughters, Jennifer (Chris Tung) Hlavin, Marie Hlavin, Erica Martin and Kishi Bear; great-grandchildren, Samuel Hlavin, Emma Weekley, Lucas Tung and Isaac Tung.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Goikich and Alice Melling.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion, where Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan.3, at the funeral home. The Rev. Nick Cacciatore will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
