Lynda Adele Ramsey, 63, residing in Sandusky, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 26, 2012, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
Lynda was born Dec. 8, 1949, in Denver to Dr. William Young and LaVona Neidert.
Lynda graduated from Fairborn High School in Fairborn, Ohio, at the age of 16. She went on to graduate from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, with a degree in social work. Passionate about helping others, she spent the first half of her career working in foster care and adoption at Erie County Children Services and the remainder of her career in geriatric social service at the Erie County Care Facility. Lynda took great pride in being a licensed social worker and yet, true to her humble spirit, was genuinely surprised every time she earned professional recognition and awards over the years.
Lynda’s hallmark was compassion. She was also artistic, gifted with the piano and flute, an avid reader, and most at home when watching a quiet sunset over Lake Erie. She had a gentle smile and her laughter brought joy and warmth to her family, friends, and those she loved.
She is survived by ; her daughter, Kelly (Jermaine) Spivey of San José, Calif.; her son, John (Joanna) Ramsey of Akron, Ohio; five grandchildren, Jermaine, Kaedren, Shemar, Jack and Julia; her parents, Dr. William Young and LaVona (Hargett) Neidert; two brothers, David and Tim (Arlette) Young; two stepsisters, Debra (Mark) Kline and Laura (Paul) Basinger; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Lynda was preceded in death by her beloved grandfather, Ernest Young; grandmother, Zeoda (Hargett) Congram; and stepfather, Robert Neidert.
Friends may call from noon Monday, Dec. 31, until service at 1 p.m. at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Roger Skelley-Watts from Huron United Methodist Church will officiate.
