Miriam A. (Slatter) Py, 100, residing in Sandusky, passed away on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, in the Commons of Providence.
Miriam was born on Oct. 6, 1912, in Columbus, Ohio, to William and Ina (Hott) Slatter. She was a 1931 graduate of Upper Arlington High School, and she attended both Miami University and The Ohio State University.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as a trustee and elder. She was a charter member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter B.E. where she served as president. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Sandusky Yacht Club, the Catawba Island Club, and was a volunteer at Stein Hospice.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda (David) Horan of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Natalie (James) Wismar of Bonita Springs, Fla.; two sons, Phillip (MaryJo) Py of Port St. Lucie, and John (Susan) Py of Milan; ten grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Including her parents, Miriam was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Py, in 1969; one sister, Dorothy Wick; and two brothers,
James Slatter and Robert Slatter.
There will be no visitation at Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at First Presbyterian Church, 265 Jackson St., Sandusky. The Rev. Robert R. Bottoms of First Presbyterian Church and the Rev. Phillip Gardner of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will take place in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
