Louis M. Youskievicz, 70, of Sandusky, passed away Thursday morning, June 3, 2010, in Lutheran Memorial Home, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
He was born May 8, 1940, in Cleveland, son of the late Ursula (Young) and Adam Youskievicz. A 1958 graduate of Cuyahoga Heights High School, Louis furthered his education at Bowling Green State University earning a BA degree in Business in 1962. He was an engineer for Ford Motor Co., Sandusky, for 35 years, retiring in 1998. Louis served our country in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Louis was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sandusky; Knights of Columbus Council 546; Sandusky Power Squadron; was past president of CCAB (formerly CHSAF); was on the 1959 National Championship Football Team at Bowling Green State University; and was a 2003 inductee of the Cuyahoga Heights High School Hall of Fame. He was an avid model railroad collector and enjoyed watching high school and professional sports.
He is survived by his wife, Joan (Biecheler), whom he married Sept. 24, 1966; three sons, Michael of Sandusky, Kevin (Julie) of Sandusky and Jeffrey (Kathy) of Victorville, Calif.; grandchildren, Joseph, Alyson, Tristan and Aidyn; and two sisters, Lori Alonzo of Cleveland and Louise Bowen of Warwick, R.I.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Ursula (Young) Youskievicz, and one sister, Alice Stevenson.
Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. David Nuss will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
