Ethel “Effie” (Kallman) Shiff, 85, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 13, 2013, at her residence.
Born March 7, 1927, daughter of the late Archibold S. and Elsie (Isaacs) Kallman, Effie was a native of Sandusky. A graduate of Sandusky High School Class of 1944, Effie remained active on the reunion committee.
As a member of Oheb Shalom Temple and sisterhood, Effie acted as the director of the religious school for more than 40 years. Effie was a past president of The Harbour Home Owners Association and an at large member of the board at the Merry-Go-Round Museum where she volunteered frequently. She was a member of Briarcrest Swim Club, the Sandusky Yacht Club and Plum Brook Country Club. Additional interests included fashion, modern design and mentoring young people.
Effie is survived by her husband of 61 years, B. Robert Shiff, whom she married Aug. 19, 1951; two children, Ronda (Manuel) Patino, of Atlanta and Robert (Marianne) Shiff of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two grandchildren, Nathan and Hannah Shiff; two nieces, cousins and other relatives.
Including her parents, Effie is preceded in death by her siblings, Harry Kallman and Marion Eber.
A Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Rabbi Steve Mills will officiate. Burial will follow at Oheb Shalom Cemetery, Sandusky.
