Nadine W. (Ohlemacher) Mack, 87, of Sandusky and Kelleys Island, died and was reunited with her husband, John T. Mack, on Sunday evening, Dec. 9, 2012, in Stein Hospice Care Center, following a brief illness.
She was born April 15, 1925, in Sandusky, and was a 1942 graduate of Sandusky High School. Nadine attended The University of Toledo and graduated from the Toledo Hospital in 1945. During World War II, she served as a U.S. Army nurse.
Nadine was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church, Kelleys Island, member and past president of the Kelleys Island Historical Society, Board of Election volunteer, Red Hat Society, United German Ladies Sewing Circle, the Sunshine Society, Toledo Hospital Alumni Association, Kelleys Island Landowners Association, past member of the Sandusky Yacht Club, Kelleys Island Board of Zoning Appeals, and the Audubon Society of Kelleys Island.
She is survived by her children, Jeni (Michael) Hammond of Sandusky, John T. (Kathy) Mack III, of Bristol, Tenn., Todd S. (Cindy) Mack of Orion, Mich.; eleven grandchildren, Claudia, Rachel (Kevin), Jessica, Ashley, Lindsay, John (Corrine) IV, Kelly (Keegan), Jill, Kim (Dave), Alex, and Shannon; four great-grandchildren, Lillian, Elizabeth, Claire, and Leo; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Mack in 2001; her parents, Wilbert and Nadine (Winters) Ohlemacher; one sister, Betty Prince; and one grandson, Jeremy Hammond.
At the request of the deceased, cremation has taken place. Visitation and memorial services will be announced later this month by the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kelleys Island Historical Society, 222 Division St., Kelleys Island, OH 43438.
